Self Regional Healthcare and Abbeville Area Medical Center Sign Affiliation Agreement
The boards of Self Regional Healthcare (SRH) and Abbeville Area Medical Center (AAMC) announced Thursday, August 24, 2023, that the two hospitals have signed a Member Substitution Agreement which will finalize the affiliation between Self Regional Healthcare and Abbeville Area Medical Center on October 1, 2023. This agreement formally completes the process the two hospitals began in March of 2022 with the Letter of Intent (LOI) and launches a new, integrated care delivery system that will enhance the services to the citizens of Abbeville County and the other communities AAMC serves.
Dr. Matthew Logan, President & CEO of Self Regional Healthcare, said “We’ve now signed our partnership agreement and are making all the necessary preparations to hit the ground running on October 1st. As AAMC Team Members join the Self Regional family, I want to reassure each of them that they are welcomed and valued in this new partnership. We need every single AAMC team member engaged and focused on patient care, so it’s our commitment to keep all AAMC jobs and benefits in place as we move into the future.”
Ron Millender, Chairman of the Self Regional Hospital Board added, “With the signing of this document today, we’re initiating a process that will bring increased healthcare access to Abbeville. On October 1st, we will kick off a strategic planning process that we’ve committed to complete within 6 months. Abbeville residents should expect to see dramatically increased cardiovascular care, orthopedics, podiatry, urology, and more at the AAMC facility.”
“Today’s signing is a testament to high regard the AAMC board of directors have for patients in Abbeville,” stated Rod Boula, AAMC Interim CEO. “The hard work this board has done over the last year to pave the way for integration with Self Regional Healthcare will ensure that we continue to have a hospital in this community.”
Gene Pruitt, Chairman of the Abbeville Area Medical Center Board said, “The leadership at Self Regional is committed to keeping high quality, personalized care in Abbeville, and I commend our county council and hospital board for recognizing that and pursuing this affiliation. Today’s signing opens the next chapter in our service to this community and I expect to see great things from the relationship between our hospitals.”
