Speech Therapy (ST)

Speech Therapy is the evaluation and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan.

Your Speech Therapist in home health will observe, collect data, assess, and measure framework of communication (including speech production, language use, and cognitive ability) to determine a diagnosis for each individual patient. Once a diagnosis has been established, your therapist will provide intervention to address areas of deficit  and provide structured tasks to improve areas of difficulty. Speech Therapists are trained and qualified to provide services to address the following problems/diagnosis:

  • Cognitive deficits (including dementia & traumatic brain injury)
  • LSVT-LOUD (Parkinson’s treatment)
  • Swallowing deficits
  • Apraxia of Speech
  • Aphasia (inability to express oneself properly through speech, or loss of verbal comprehension)
  • Dysarthria (imperfect speech ex: stammering)

In addition to treatment of disorders, Speech Therapists also offer counseling to individuals and families regarding acceptance and adjustment to daily living while living with new impairments.
