Position Title: Mental Health Tech/Driver-FT

Department:Geriatric Pyschiatry
Position Description: Provides direct patient care in the Geriatric Psychiatric Outpatient Program. Assists in clerical duties, maintains medical records, monitors patient interactions and traffic flow. Transports patients to and from the Program on a daily basis.

The above wage range reflects the minimum, midpoint and maximum hourly rate for this position. New employees are hired between the minimum and midpoint of this range. The initial wage offered will be based on qualifications and experience.
    Qualifications:
    Education:High School Graduate, Bachelor's Degree desired.
    Experience:One year experience in psychiatric/addictive disease treatment facility preferred. Ability to build rapport with patients; positive attitude and commitment to treat paitents with dignity and respect. Must possess communication skills and have the ability to communicate with patients, managers and hospital staff. Ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner; must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation, and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another; must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinions.
    Physical Requirements:Aiblity to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift grasp. Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly. Hearing to perceive the nature of sound with no less than 40 db loss @ 1000Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound. Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers. Individuals must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occassionally and be able to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on occassion, and lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 pounds routinely. External applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential functions, either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.
    License Required:Valid SC Driver's License and driving record which allows coverage under the hospital's vehicle insurance policy.
