Position Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)-PRN

Department:Wellness Program
Position Description: Under general supervision of an occupational therapist, the staff certified occupational therapy assistant is required to treat individuals, of all ages, suffering from disabilities due to injury or illness by the use of therapeutic exercises, physical modalities, and education as prescribed by a physician. The COTA also monitors the patient’s response and progress, modifies the treatment plan according to supervising occupational therapist’s direction and documents same on medical record.

Status:PRN
The above wage range reflects the minimum, midpoint and maximum hourly rate for this position. New employees are hired between the minimum and midpoint of this range. The initial wage offered will be based on qualifications and experience.
    Qualifications:
    Education:Graduate of an accredited COTA program.
    Experience:Minimum one (1) year as a COTA in a clinical care setting or home care required. Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care and the ability to communicate and work effectively with people.
    Physical Requirements:Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to infectious specimens, diseases, soiled laundry, lifting and handling of heavy patients, but potential for personal harm or injury to self or others is limited when proper safety and health precautions are followed. Able to maintain emotional stability; must be in good physical condition to meet the demands of an active position, including extensive walking, moderate sitting, standing and lifting; physically able to perform CPR. External applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential functions, either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.
    License Required:Current COTA certification and BCLS certification prior to delivering patient care. Must have a valid South Carolina driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of valid automobile liability licensure.
