Every baby is special and should be welcomed into the world in a special way. The Birthing Center at Abbeville Area Medical Center provides parents and their babies with excellent care in a warm, welcoming environment.
You don’t have to go far from home to have your baby. At Abbeville Area Medical Center, you can stay close to home…close to family and friends…where your heart is.
When you’re a patient in our Birthing Center, you become a member of our family. And, just like you, we’re well prepared for your baby’s arrival, just as if it were one of our own. Our low nurse to patient ratio also allows for personalized compassionate care not only for you and baby, but for your entire family.
We offer comfortable labor/delivery/recovery rooms where moms and babies can enjoy a relaxed environment that’s a lot like home. “Rooming in” for you and your baby is encouraged to allow that special bond to grow from the very beginning. A newborn nursery is also available should you need it.
Each member of our Birthing Center nursing staff is specially trained in perinatal nursing and is NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certified.
When you have your baby at our Birthing Center, we’re also here for you both before and after your delivery. From new mother in-home visits to a variety of pre- and post-natal classes, we’ll help make your experience the best it can be.
In-Home Visit
While the homecoming of mom and baby is a joyous one, we know there will be questions. That’s why we’ll make sure someone comes to check in after your return home! Every mom receives a complimentary in-home “Well Baby Visit” following the birth of their baby.
Our complimentary “Project Success” program offers a variety of resources to help you prepare for your special day and provide the best care for your new arrival when you return home. Contact us for more information.
