In an effort to measure and ensure patient satisfaction, Abbeville Area Medical Center (AAMC) has been conducting a series of quarterly surveys of its medical practices, which include Family Medicine Associates, Abbeville Surgical, Abbeville Urology, Abbeville Internal Medicine and Abbeville Neurology.
In conducting the survey, patients are asked to complete a written questionnaire that asks them to rate certain aspects of care on a scale from one to five, with one being “poor” and five being “great.”
Overall scores were stellar for all practices; in fact, between 92% and 99% of patients rated their physician and their overall visit as great. Survey questions included rating how well the physician listened to you, did the physician take enough time with you, did he/she explain what you want to know and did the physician give you good advice and treatment. Nurses and medical assistants also ranked extremely high, as did categories such as cleanliness, friendliness and overall care received at the practices.
“We’re extremely pleased that the clinical and support staff at our practices was rated so favorably,” said Abbeville Area Medical Center CEO Rich Osmus. “To have scores consistently in the upper 90s is phenomenal and demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest quality of care for our patients.”
