Abbeville Area Medical Center (AAMC) continues to grow its family medicine practice with the addition of a new Family Practitioner. Christopher Lee Oxendine, MD has joined the hospital’s Family Medicine Associates practice and is currently welcoming new patients.

“I am pleased to join the Family Medicine Associates and Abbeville Area Medical Center team,” said Dr. Oxendine. “AAMC is a great hospital; I look forward to working with the staff in providing my patients with an outstanding level of care.”

Dr. Oxendine is joining Family Medicine Associates as part of a recent agreement between the hospital and Self Medical Group in Greenwood, a not-for-profit physician division of Self Regional Healthcare. This collaboration is expected to provide Abbeville-area patients with better access to family practice physicians.

“Access to a primary care physician will be greatly improved, and Abbeville-area patients will be able to receive high-quality care in a convenient location,” said Rich Osmus, CEO at AAMC.

Dr. Oxendine completed his Family Medicine Residency at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood. He earned his Medical Doctorate at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) in Augusta, where he was bestowed with one of MCG’s highest honors - the Georgia Physician’s Physician Award. Prior to pursuing his medical degree, Dr. Oxendine studied at the University of Georgia in Athens (UGA), graduating summa cum laude with highest honors, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology. While at UGA, he also earned a Masters of Education degree in Instructional Technology, graduating with distinction. Dr. Oxendine is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the South Carolina Medical Association, and is board-eligible.

In his spare time, Dr. Oxendine volunteers at the United Christian Ministries of Abbeville County (UCMAC), the Greater Greenwood United Ministries and recently coached a YMCA Peak Basketball team. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Dr. Oxendine is welcoming new patients at Family Medicine Associates, located at 901 W. Greenwood Street, Suite 9 in Abbeville. For more information or to make an appointment, call Family Medicine Associates at 864-366-9681 or visit www.AbbevilleAreaMC.com.
