(Abbeville SC) January 27, 2012 – Do you worry about an aging parent or grandparent living at home? Studies show that the majority of older adults prefer to stay in the familiar surroundings of their own home, but may need some assistance with certain activities such as bathing, wound care or even physical therapy. Rather than having to leave the house for many personal and medical services, Home Health agencies come to a person’s home to fulfill many of these needs. To learn more about the variety of services offered through a home health agency and when you should consider them, join us at Abbeville Area Medical Center on Thursday, February 28 at 7:00 pm for “When to Consider Home Health for your Loved One”. The program, which is part of the hospital’s Ladies’ Night Out series, will be presented by Michelle Garner, RN, Community Nurse Liaison for Health Related Home Care (HRHC), along with other HRHC Representatives.
“Many baby boomers are caught in the so-called sandwich generation – trying to care of both their children as well as their aging parents,” said Garner. “Trying to run back and forth to help them out or worrying about them from a distance is extremely stressful. The services provided by a home heath agency are a great option.”
Home health services can be customized to meet an individuals needs and can range from assistance with personal care tasks such as changing bed sheets to home monitoring systems that measure heart rate, blood pressure, and other medical indicators. During the program, attendees will learn when they should consider home health services for a loved one and what services are available to them.
Attendees will enjoy complimentary coffee, dessert and a drawing for great prizes.
