Long-time Physician Joins Abbeville Area Medical Center Staff
(Abbeville SC) July 29, 2011 – Highly regarded physician S. Larry Holmes, MD, has joined Abbeville Area Medical Center’s (AAMC) Family Medicine Associates practice. The long-time, board-certified physician began seeing patients in Abbeville in July.
“I’m pleased to be returning to Abbeville and look forward to re-establishing my relationship with the community,” said Dr. Holmes. “I became a partner at Family Medicine Associates over 20 years ago, and practiced for six years before going to the Philippines to provide medical care in a mission clinic. I was there for eight years, before coming home. The staff at AAMC provides quality compassionate care and I’m looking forward to working with them.”
Dr. Holmes is seeing patients at Family Medicine Associates as part of an agreement between the hospital and Self Medical Group in Greenwood. The two organizations are working together in an effort to make it easier and more convenient for area residents to see a family practice physician. He will also continue to see patients in Greenwood at Family Healthcare.

Dr. Holmes completed his Internship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA and his residency in Family Medicine at Self Memorial Hospital. He and his wife, Billie, have five children.
