First place in the walk went to Judy Henderson of Greenwood. The Male Overall Winner was AAMC ‘s very own Tim Stewart, IT department manager, who beat his 2008 time by a full minute. Tim came in at our fastest time yet of 29:56. Congratulations Tim!

The Female Overall Winner was Shelley Stephenson of Seneca with a time of 35:01. In the Master category top placers were David Spark of Simpsonville and Abbeville’s own Lucia Bishop. Many of our winners in the different age groups were from Abbeville including Anna Frances Bishop, Chris Welborn and Steve Welborn, Winners of the age divisions received medals and the overall winners received plaques.

This year we had a fun family friendly atmosphere including a health fair with heart health information, blood pressure checks, and blood sugar screenings. Jumping Jax brought a giant inflatable slide that entertained the kids for hours. Bobby Hamby of Bobby DJ played great music that kept everyone singing and dancing along. A student from Piedmont Tech gave free post race massages, which were a big hit.

This year’s participation set a record for being the most ever.

“Several families also participated, which I’d like to see more of in the future,” stated Allison Sullivan, race coordinator.

Many of the participants either work in town or were from the Abbeville area.

Everyone had a great time and enjoyed celebrating Heart Health month with this special event. It is hoped that next year’s event brings more participants and different activities for families.

All proceeds from this year’s event directly benefit the Wellness Center and its community health programs and initiatives.
