AAMC Installs New CT Scanner
Abbeville Area Medical Center has installed a new CT Scanner in the radiology department. The announcement was made today by David Able, radiology director. The GE Bright Speed was installed in mid July, and Able says the new technology offers many benefits to patients.

“This new scanner is faster and produces sharper images, which will enable us to diagnose patients more quickly and accurately,” said Able. “Additionally, the equipment emits lower levels of radiation, making it safer.”

CT Scanners (Computerized Tomography) use X-rays to take detailed pictures inside the body. The scanners can be used to capture images of all parts of the body, from bones to internal organs and blood vessels. The detailed images they produce aid in the non-invasive diagnosis of illnesses such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Abbeville Area Medical Center offers a variety of radiology services including CT scans, radiography, bone density analysis, MRI, nuclear medicine, mammography, and ultrasound.
