AAMC Names 2015 "Star" Champion

Abbeville Area Medical Center (AAMC) named Carol Norris, an employee in AAMC’s Inpatient Nursing Services Department, as its 2015 employee “Star” Champion.  A reception was held July 14th in her honor with family, friends and fellow staff members in attendance.  Carol is a life-long resident of Abbeville and has worked at AAMC for fifteen years.
The “Stars and Champions” recognition program highlights the many ways staff members go above and beyond their job duties to help others. The “Star” award is given monthly and allows employees to nominate individuals who "shine" like stars by performing very specific kind acts that benefit their patients. At the end of the year, all “Star” nominations are reviewed by an employee committee and a “Champion” chosen. The “Champion” award is given to the individual whose kind act had the biggest impact for a patient.  Norris received a $1,500.00 cash prize.

Norris received two “Star” awards during the year for her genuine care and concern for her patients. On one occasion she brought several changes of clothes for an inpatient rehab patient who had none. On another occasion she assisted a new insulin dependent patient’s wife who was having difficulty getting blood from a finger stick by going to her home.
“Carol’s exemplary care and concern truly made an impact on these patients’ lives,” stated Dean Turner, CEO.  “Seeing our staff members give back to our patients with such sincere acts of kindness makes me very proud to be a part of the AAMC family.”
